Three Tarts

Three Tarts Bakeshop is one of Bank St’s newest sweet additions! They sell a variety of small sweets like cookies, scones, squares, stickybuns, chocolates, and even marshmallows. But it’s really for the tarts and cakes that I would recommend going for.

Currently, their Autumn Menu is on, so they have quite a few options with pumpkin and seasonal fruits, like Pumpkin Pecan Streusel Cheesecake, Almond Pear Tart, and Apple Roasted Plum Vanilla Tart to name a few.

I bought the Apple Roasted Plum Vanilla Tart, because I wanted to see if the bakery really lived up to its name “Three Tarts”. I love baking tarts, and over the years I’ve produced some pretty amazing ones! So the real test was going to be: Would I be impressed? Would I want to buy more tarts here, or just keep making them myself?

The answer was a resounding yes. If I one day find myself unable to bake, and I need a tart stat, this is the place to go. The Apple Roasted Plum Vanilla Tart was fantastic on all points. The crust tasted really good, because it was extremely similar to shortbread. It’s not often that tart crust is this good, trust me. The apples and plums were lovely, they gave the perfect amount of acidity to the light, sweet vanilla in the filling. I took a bite, and I was hooked.

Small tarts go for  $15 or large tarts for $30

As well as tarts, there are plenty of cakes to choose from. For example, they have an Orange Almond Cake, a Gateau Breton and a Symphony White & Dark Chocolate Mousse Cake. I opted for a slice of the Chocolate Fudge Cake, and it was another fantastic choice. It was so so so good, it was a definite winner. Rich, but light at the same time, the chocolate just melted!

As for Aidan’s Chocolate Cake, it was good in its simplicity, definitely the chocolate cake to get at Three Tarts if you’re looking for a classic chocolate cake to play it safe.

Cakes vary in sizes and prices.

They do sell individual slices of cakes and tarts, but not for everything that is on display. Feel free to ask them if they can cut up a cake to get a slice, they were able to cut me one of the fudge cakes!

You can also preorder cakes or tarts to ensure having the one you want. Check out their Autumn Menu here for products and prices.
